Please note that the application cycle for the 2011 Learning Programme is now closed.

The RAMIRI 2 learning programme consists of two workshops attended by a class of around 45 selected participants.

In 2011, the course was delivered in Amsterdam (14-16 June) and Trieste (24-26 October). The following information is now historical:

Please note that participants must attend both sessions, and reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs for selected bursary recipients will be conditional on full attendance. Please do not apply for the 2011 programme if you know that you will be unable to attend one part of the course, as in doing so you will prevent another applicant from benefiting from the course. However, you may wish to consider applying for the 2012 programme, which will be held in Prague and Trieste (dates to be confirmed).

We will be adding more details of the programme as these are confirmed. However, please note that we intend to deliver an expert-led programme which introduces and discuss a number of topics which are relevant to planning and managing both prospective/new and existing research infrastructures. Topics will include:

  • Understanding the features of different research infrastructure models: single-site, e-infrastructure, distributed infrastructures
  • Determining and articulating socio-economic impact
  • Legal, governance and management structures (inc. the ERIC)
  • Project financing, inc. use of structural funds
  • Project planning and cost containment
  • Data management and IPR issues
  • Managing human resources in an international facility
  • Strategic management of established facilities: access policy, technology transfer, evolution and upgrades, decommissioning
