The ancient city of Grenoble provides a stunning backdrop for the second of the RAMIRI conferences. Situated at the foot of the Alps in south-east France, Grenoble is bordered by snow-capped mountains and traversed by the Isère river. The self-styled ‘capital of the alps’ offers a heady mix of history, culture and sporting attractions whilst being home to the ‘Polygone Scientifique’, its centre of science and technology research, including our joints hosts for the conference, the Institut Laue-Langevin and the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility.
Grenoble is easily accessible from three airports: Grenoble-Isère Airport, Saint-Exupéry International Airport (near Lyon), and Geneva Cointrin International Airport. The city is also served by the TGV and TER train networks, with direct connections to Paris, Lille and Geneva, and there is an excellent transport system within the city.
Please note that airport transfers from Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport to the hotel will be provided at 1900 and 2100 hrs on 9 September. One single transfer to the airport will be provided following the close of the conference at 1600 on 11 September.
There is a regular public coach service between Lyon Saint-Exupéry and grenoble -- please click here for timetable.
